Playing online is a wonder of modern gaming, but there’s nothing like getting a couple of pals huddled around a console and enjoying the immediacy of tackling a platformer such as Rayman Origins together.

This quirky character has been around for a fair few years now, and his Origins outing proves to be one of the best yet.

A beautiful-looking adventure, the game combines the many different elements that make the likes of Mario so successful – devilish level design, secret passageways, countless collectibles and a totally different gameplay experience whether you’re playing solo or with pals.

The lack of online mode may frustrate those who have friends in far-flung places, but everyone else should dedicate some serious time to rediscovering a cracking console character and unearthing one of the best platformers you’re likely to play in the next few months.
