Dark Souls
Dark Souls’ predecessor, Demon’s Souls, was a perfect example of how console gaming can be anything but a carefree pastime to pleasantly wile away a couple of hours now and then.
It sucked you in and proceeded to spit you out time and time again.
The difficulty level in Dark Souls has remained the same, and this is one open-world action RPG that you should really think twice about committing to.
Brilliantly dark and disturbing, it’s the kind of game where simply surviving for half an hour could be seen as a major achievement. But a supreme combat system, big bad bosses and the sheer necessity for involving other players online to aid your progress also make it a captivating, unmissable challenge.
You’ll get to know the feeling of death very well in Dark Souls, but those depths of despair will only make your heroic progress through 60 scintillating hours of pure fantasy all the more satisfying.
Score: 9/10
