THE number of people claiming unemployment benefits in Harlow fell last month.
A report by the Office for National Statistics showed there were 2,534 claimants in the Harlow parliamentary constituency in March – 33 fewer than in February.
Harlow MP Robert Halfon welcomed the news but warned there were still tough times ahead.
"It is good news that, despite the terrible economic situation in which we are paying £120m a day in debt interest alone, at Harlow is still open for business," he said.
"This is the second month that unemployment has dropped and although the road remains rocky it is encouraging news."
