CHILDREN’S safety is being put at risk by selfish drivers who fail to stop at a school crossing on a busy road in Harlow.
Lollipop lady Jane Chivrall said she and pupils from Potter Street Primary School have to “dodge” cars up to five times a day.

Now concerned mums Michelle Porter and Claire Kimble have set up a protest group on social networking site Facebook calling for action from highways authority Essex County Council. The group has already attracted more than 200 members.
Mum-of-three Michelle said her son was “inches away from getting run over” recently when a car did not stop.
“It’s really worrying, not just for our children but for the residents at the old people’s home and people with learning difficulties at Livingstone House,” she said.
“They are all afraid to use the road as it’s getting dangerous.
“We’ve been told by the council that we will get some action but they don’t know when. Is it going to take a serious injury or death on the road before we get that?”
The group say the problem has been exacerbated since roadworks started on the A414, resulting in more traffic using Potter Street as a rat run.
Mrs Chivrall said: “There has been extra traffic coming through Potter Street and my job is getting very, very hard.
“Whereas before a driver would fail to stop once every few months, now it’s three a day on average and on one day it was even five. Now mums have had enough.”
The group want safety barriers installed close to the crossing to stop cars from driving on the pavement and cameras to help enforce the 20mph speed limit and catch drivers who do not stop at the crossing.
A County Hall spokesman said: “We are aware of this request and are arranging for a safety barrier to be installed.
“We will also be carrying out a speed survey on Potter Street and liaising with Essex Police on speed issues.”
