DISRUPTION to Harlow Council-run services is being kept to a “minimum” today (Monday, February 6) following the weekend’s heavy snowfall, according to the authority.
Waste and recycling collections will continue throughout the day, although residents are being advised to leave their bins out if they are not picked up as crews will be working to catch up as soon as conditions improve.
Street cleaning has been suspended as workmen grit priority areas including the town centre, neighbourhood shopping hatches, sheltered housing complexes and health centres, but most other services – including Pets’ Corner, the Leah Manning Centre and Contact Harlow - are open as usual.
Council Leader Andrew Johnson told the Star: “Council staff and contractors are working hard to continue providing services to minimise disruption for residents.
“The council has a stockpile of grit in preparation for bad weather so street cleaners were out on Sunday and today gritting to ensure that the main public areas are safe for residents.
“Waste and recycling collections could face some disruptions due to icy conditions but we will work hard to catch up as soon as possible.”
Residents are advised to visit the council’s website at www.harlow.gov.uk for the latest information on waste and recycling collections in their area.
