A 28-YEAR-OLD Hertford man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the brutal attack on an elderly man in Harlow.
The 64-year-old victim was found lying on a playing field between Mallows Green and The Maples at around 9pm on Monday (January 30) after sustaining serious head injuries.
He was found to have suffered fractures to his jaw, cheekbones and eye sockets, while both his hands were broken. He is now receiving treatment in hospital.
The suspect is currently in police custody.
Police, who have described the attack as “particularly nasty”, are still looking for the victim's vehicle, a maroon Escort, index no: M953OAN.
They would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen the victim between 7pm and 9 pm on Monday, January 30.
The man, who is from Sheering, is described as white, with short dark greying hair, wearing a black jacket, pink shirt, a grey woollen jumper and blue jeans.
