Officers also conducted immigration checks at the Tasty Grill, in East Gate, where a 27-year-old man from Pakistan was found to be working without permission, having overstayed his visa.
A 36-year-old man, also from Pakistan , who was on the premises but not working was also found to have overstayed his visa and was detained.
DC Adam Rogers, of the UK Border Agency’s immigration crime team said: “There are simple ways of checking a foreign national's right to work and there is no excuse for not checking the identity of those applying for jobs.
“We support and encourage employers to comply with the rules but when they fail to do so it is right that we crack down on them.”
The owners of Tasty Grill now have 28 days to provide the agency with evidence that the correct right-to-work checks were carried out or face a fine of up to £10,000 per illegal worker.
Guidance for employers on preventing illegal working can be found online at www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/employingmigrants or by calling the UK Border Agency Employers Helpline on 0845 010 6677.
