SPORTS enthusiasts marked the one-year countdown to the London 2012 Olympic Games at an activity day at Mark Hall Sports Centre.
Almost 300 people attended the event organised by activeharlow, one of more than 1,000 open weekend events being held nationwide.
Visitors watched demonstrations and participated in a range of activities organised by local sports and leisure clubs. Highlights included martial arts performances, a wheelchair basketball game, Teegate netball, a Ruggerbugs youth rugby demonstration and Cycle Harlow BMXing.
Several local dignitaries, including Harlow MP Robert Halfon, were among those who attended.
Andy Peasey, vice-chairman of activeharlow, said: "We’re really pleased with how it went. We have guided it from its infancy. We’re happy with it and have a view to the event getting bigger and better in years to come.
"We’ll definitely do something next year. Hopefully there will be a legacy in celebrating sports and leisure in Harlow and we’ll carry it on in future years."
