The case of a man due to stand trial accused of carrying out a £25,000 armed robbery at the Harlow branch of Sainsbury's has been adjourned.
Unemployed Barry Askew (52), of Mallows Green, has been bailed to return to court for the two week hearing on August 31.
Both he and a second defendant, Colin Garrod (42), a demolition worker from Basildon, deny robbery and possessing a sawn off shotgun with intent to commit robbery.
They have also denied illegally transferring criminal property at betting shops in the Southend area.
Although the trial was originally adjourned last October to take place this month, further time was needed to fully prepare the case.
Police launched an investigation after a security guard was threatened with a gun and forced to hand over a cash box at Sainsbury's in Fifth Avenue on Thursday, February 26 last year.
