Are you fit for charity bootcamp challenge?

By Vicky Lane

RESILIENT residents are being called up for a day of no-nonsense fitness in a bid to raise money for a disabled children’s charity.

Fitness instructor Kate Stanley (29) of Challinor, Harlow, wants those up for a challenge to take part in a fundraising Bootcampathon next weekend.

The event is being run by Kate and her husband Gary, who own personal training company Stanley4fitness, to help raise money for Get Kids Going – the charity Kate is running for in the London Marathon later this year.

She explained: "Get Kids Going is a fantastic organisation which gives disabled children and young people the opportunity to participate in a whole assortment of sports.

"As a fitness instructor who runs children’s bootcamps I have always been extremely passionate about getting kids active so was only too keen to take one of their marathon places and help raise money.

"Furthermore, my brother had spina bifida though sadly passed away when he was just 20 months old. It really means a lot to me to help others suffering similar conditions to be able to get more enjoyment out of life."

Being run by four fully-trained instructors, the Bootcampathon aims to be a fun but demanding event for people over 18 which will feature a mixture of high-endurance fitness programs.

"Everyone taking part will definitely work up a sweat!" said Kate. "It will be really fun and rewarding and give everyone involved a massive fitness boost.

"Of course it will also be raising money for a brilliant cause, with all profits raised on the day donated to Get Kids Going."

She added: "There aren’t many slots left to fill but I am determined to have a full team so would urge anyone up for a challenge to secure their place as soon as possible."

The Bootcampathon is taking place on Saturday, February 11 at Burnt Mill School, which has donated its hall for the event free of charge. The day, which runs from 8am to 2pm, costs £30 and includes lunch, refreshments and a souvenir tshirt. For more information or to book a place visit www.stanley4fitness.com or call (01279) 424471.
