Harlow Council recognised for supporting small businesses

HARLOW Council has won an award for its commitment to supporting small businesses.

The authority was one of just two to receive the Small Business Friendly Award 2011 from the Essex Federation of Small Businesses.

It was praised for working closely with the local business community and for being the driving force behind the town’s successful bid for Enterprise Zone status.

Russell Perrin, portfolio holder for regeneration and enterprise, said the authority was thrilled to receive the accolade.

"Harlow Council has always tried to encourage small businesses, most recently through our work with the West Essex Alliance, which brings together businesses and the public sector to help deliver economic growth and jobs," he said.
