Nick and Jane Anderson, owners of the Mayfield Farm Bakery and School in Sheering Road, Old Harlow, were first introduced to the talents of Manuel when they visited his Panaderiael Artesano bakery in Jerez while holidaying in Spain.

Despite the language barrier, the couple were so impressed by his skills they invited him to their bakery to share his tricks of the trade.

“It has been brilliant exchanging ideas with Manuel,” said Nick. “Not only does he love the local flour that we use here but he has been fascinated by the way we make traditional British treats.

“The Spanish bread has been flying off the shelves. “We have even had a local Spanish language class visiting to speak with Manuel and pick up authentic Spanish loaves!”

Nick now intends to return the favour by visiting the Panaderiael Artesano bakery to teach about British artisan breadmaking techniques.
